Dominating the height of the valley, this very nice building from the 11th century was built on the site of the Saint-Antoine old Monastery, in front of the Halles (Covered Market), called during the Middle Age “ la Cohue”.
This vast wooden building, surrounded with clerestories sheltered the Halles.

Much later, in 1855, the generosity of a Domfront’s inhabitant Mr Pellier de la Roierie, permits to the present Town Hall and to the Presbytery to be built.
Grateful to M. PELLIER de la ROIRIE, the citizens decided to give his name to the old Halles place who became : “La Place de la Roirie”.
“La Place de la Roirie”, welcomes the Town Hall and, just in front of the Castle, the private Hotel of Barré de JUMILLY  (17th century).
